WHAT DO I GET FROM A HALF BEEF?


The butchering of an animal will significantly affect the yield of beef.  (ie. how much fat is trimmed; whether bones are left in; how much fat is left in he ground beef)


The yield is typically 60-65% of the hanging weight.




HOW LEAN IS GRASS FED BEEF?


We do request that the butcher leave less fat on the cuts, and use less fat in the ground beef, which gives a 80-85% lean ground beef. (Grass fed beef is leaner than grain fed beef!)




HOW MUCH FREEZER SPACE IS NEEDED FOR A HALF BEEF?


Half beef will take up approximately 10 cu. ft. of "upright" freezer space.




WHAT CUTS WILL I RECEIVE?


We will work closely with the butcher to provide you with the highest quality cuts, with the greatest possible yield and variety of cuts.

Steaks are typically cut to 1" thickness.  Roasts are typically 3-4 lbs (roast sizes may vary...depending on the size of the animal).




PICK UP OR DELIVERY OF ORDER?


All orders are available for pick up at our farm, on the 2nd Saturday of each month, from 9:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m.  Delivery is available if within a 50 mile radius...for a delivery charge of $50.00.
